Blend jazz, funky grooves and silky-smooth vocals and you have the band DHQ. DHQ is made up of four inspired musicians, Brian Monroney on guitar, Osama Afifi on bass, fronted by Darelle Holden (da – rell) on vocals and a great rotation of special guests on drums for each performance.

Earshot Jazz, Vocalist of the Year nominee, Darelle Holden, boasts an accomplished career as a professional background singer, ala, “20 Feet from Stardom”, touring and performing with artists such as Tom Jones, Stevie Wonder, Norman Brown and more.

Guitar virtuoso Brian Monroney’s bio includes Tom Jones, Natalie Cole, Gloria Estefan, Wayman Tisdale, Ilan Chester, Paul Taylor, Nelson Rangell and Lee Oskar among others.

Bassist Osama Afifi (o – sam – uh) has performed with Vanessa Paradis, Kurt Elling, Nnenna Freelon, The 5th Dimension, The Cadillacs, jazz saxophonist Gary Herbig, singer Debbie Boone, and former Miles Davis keyboardist Kei Akagi, among others.

Guest drummers include: Earshot Jazz Instrumentalist of the year D’Vonne Lewis, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis; Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra; Maria Schneider; Digable Planets. Stefan Schatz, Jon Hendricks, Arnie Lawrence, Herman Foster, Teddy Charles, and Freddie Redd, and has toured internationally with the Chris Byars/Ari Roland Quartet, Jazz at Lincoln Center
